L-Leucine is an essential amino acid with the chemical formula C6H13NO2. It is an enantiomer of D-leucine and is a white lustrous hexahedral crystal or a white crystalline powder at room temperature. Odorless and slightly bitter. Sublimation occurs at 145-148℃. Melting point: 293-295℃ (decomposition). It is stable in performance in inorganic acid aqueous solutions in the presence of hydrocarbons. Slightly soluble in ethanol (0.07%), soluble in dilute hydrochloric acid and alkaline hydroxide and carbonate solutions. Insoluble in ether.
